In short: no data collected
Podcast Sleep Aid collects no personal data. The app requires no account, embeds no analytics or advertising SDK, and sends no information about you to the developer or to third parties.
Your data stays on your device
Your subscriptions, playback positions, played statuses, folders, downloads and settings are stored locally on your iPhone. They only leave the device if you enable an iCloud feature yourself (below).
iCloud (optional)
Cross-device sync and episode archiving are off by default. If you enable them, data travels only through your private iCloud account (the Apple storage tied to your Apple ID). The developer has no access to it, and nothing is shared with anyone.
Network connections
The app connects to the Internet only to:
- fetch the RSS feeds and audio files of the podcasts you choose (the podcast publishers' servers);
- query the search catalogs (Apple Podcasts, Podcast Index) and fetch the "Tonight" editorial selection, through a server maintained by the developer, called without any identifier, account or cookie.
Like any web server, our server and podcast hosts see the IP address of requests in standard technical logs, kept briefly for security purposes. We do not use them to identify or track users.
What leaves your device when you search
The text you type in the search field is sent to Apple, for the Apple Podcasts catalog, and to our server, which passes it on to Podcast Index. That is how a search works: with nothing sent, there is nothing to find.
The request carries no identifier: no account, no cookie, no device or advertising identifier. It is tied to no profile, and we keep no search history. Only your IP address is needed to route the answer back to you, as for any web page; it is not used to track you or to link two searches together.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, iOS may send the developer a technical report: where in the code the failure happened, the device model and the iOS version. These reports contain none of your podcasts, none of your listening, and nothing that identifies you. They exist to fix failures nobody reports.
This sending is controlled by iOS, not by the app, and the setting is yours: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Turn off "Share With App Developers" and no report reaches us; "Share iPhone Analytics", just above, governs the whole thing. The app behaves exactly the same either way.
